Veteran's visit the Rustic Anvil

08/31/2025

About two months ago, it was my pleasure to host three service Veterans' to the Rustic Anvil  Forge. These gentlemen were so enthusiastic about learning a new hobby in the realm of blacksmithing. We did the basic 3-hour course for beginners, but all three worked well together as a team to get the most out of their day.

Linda had some cowboy chili cooking on the Dutch oven for lunch as we served long neck beverage with it. I set aside some homemade bottle openers for them each to try their skill at another way of thinking. After lunch we took some objects that failed in other classes and turned them into real life objects. We fixed up a small knife to show heat treating, another type of bottle openers to use later, and repair a screw driver with a twisted element in the stock. There is only so much you can learn in three hours and they sure made the most of it. Thanks for coming over men and thanks for your service to our country.
