B.S. over Christmas 2019'
With lots of time on my hands over the Christmas break, I thought that I would take the opportunity to make some Christmas fun items. Most of these pieces were given to family and friends or just hung around the house in the Yuletide spirit. Some were prototypes that I found on line or in my books on blacksmithing. The icicles were hung around the house and several items were painted red and green while developing new punched to create unique effects. I even tinkered with make bracelets out of 1/2" copper tubing.
The new challenge of the year for the season were definitely the Viking Pennenual pins in the bottom set of photos. It was particularly hard to get the circular bend after putting in the twist on the shaft. I used a horseshoe nail drawn out for the pin itself. I think in the future I will used a thinner stock that is twisted. I also to did some bracing with my oxy-acetylene tanks to make Revolutionary War Candle holder upon request from some clients back East. All in all Christmas was a success and I had a lot of fun just tinkering around in the cold weather. I am out there almost every other day except today because the temps never made it above 9*F and that is where I draw the line.
